Discover East Sussex's New Coastal Path

A brand-new 28-mile stretch of the King Charles III England Coast Path has opened in East Sussex, extending from the charming Eastbourne Pier to the picturesque Rye Harbour. This newly unveiled section forms a part of what will eventually be the world's longest managed trail, spanning an impressive 2,700 miles.

This marvellous route, developed by Natural England in collaboration with East Sussex County Council, Wealden and Rother District Councils, Ramblers, and Sussex Wildlife Trust, offers a delightful mix of stunning seascapes and rich history. Starting at Eastbourne Pier, the trail meanders through Normans Bay and Cooden Beach, leading to the vibrant Bexhill Promenade and the iconic Grade I-listed De La Warr Pavilion.

As you continue along the coast, you'll encounter the rugged beauty of Hastings Country Park before heading inland towards Fairlight, Winchelsea, and finally, Rye Harbour. Along the way, keep an eye out for the historic Martello Tower forts, relics from the Napoleonic Wars that dot the coastline.

This new stretch not only enhances the South East's coastal path network but also connects a variety of local attractions and unique natural habitats. It's a fantastic opportunity for locals and visitors alike to connect with nature and explore the rich history of the region.
