Celebrating Inclusivity: Sussex Youth Games Shine

The Sussex Parallel Youth Games is a beacon of inclusivity and inspiration, bringing together children from across Sussex for a day of sporting celebration. Held at Crawley's K2 Leisure Centre, this annual event saw participation from 17 schools and the Brighton-based charity, Whoopsadaisy. The day was packed with a variety of sports, including boccia, new age kurling, dance, table cricket, and more, offering something for every young athlete.

This year’s guest of honour was Crawley’s own Alfie Pyle, who recently made his international debut with the England Disability Cricket team. Alfie’s journey from a five-year-old cricket enthusiast to an international player is a testament to the power of determination and passion. His presence and words of encouragement were a highlight, as he shared his own sporting journey and presented medals to the participating children.

The event is more than just a day of fun and games; it’s a platform that motivates and encourages young disabled athletes to continue their sporting journeys. Active Sussex, the organisers, aim to foster a spirit of perseverance and achievement among these young sports enthusiasts.
