Community Triumphs in Hospice Fundraiser Effort

Hospice in the Weald, which provides compassionate care to adults and children with terminal or life-limiting illnesses, launched this special fundraising initiative at 9am on April 7. By 9pm the following day, more than 1,380 supporters had contributed to this cause, ensuring the continuation of vital services for those in need and their families across Kent and East Sussex.

Alison Mitchell, the fundraising director at the hospice, expressed profound gratitude to the supporters whose efforts turned a nerve-wracking campaign into a resounding success. The campaign's impact was further amplified by a matched funding scheme, doubling the value of each donation made.

The phrase 'Every Moment Counts' encapsulates the ethos of the hospice—recognising the preciousness of time for those with terminal illnesses and their loved ones. The funds raised will support the employment of 12 nurses for a year, directly impacting the quality of life for patients and their families.

Among the donors was Ian Glascott, who, in memory of his wife Marion, mobilised his network to contribute an impressive £11,395. Marion's story, filled with love and appreciation for the hospice's work, highlights the personal connections that drive such fundraising success.

The 'Every Moment Counts' campaign is not just about the money raised; it's a narrative of love, loss, and legacy. It's about ensuring that every moment does indeed count for those facing life's ultimate challenge.
